Our Virtual Assistant Spotlight Series focuses on members of Meadows Resources Virtual Assistant Team and how they came to decide a career in virtual administration was the best fit for them. Below we speak with Jasmine Adams:
When did you decide you wanted to be a virtual assistant and what made you consider the change?
I have been doing VA work for 5-7 years, but it wasn’t until recently that I decided to do it full-time to have flexibility and to be able to spend more time with my family. I love helping business owners so that they can focus on growing their business and I also like that I am able to learn and be exposed to so many industries through working with my clients.
Did your career background and experience fit into the general realm of virtual assistant work or was this a complete change in career?
It was a change but I was also doing many of the tasks that I do now. My career background includes HR and Managing a Bowling Center.
What were your first thoughts when researching the scope of work of a virtual assistant?
Although I’ve been doing VA work for 5-7 years, it wasn’t until about 6-8 months ago that I actually found a name for the things I was doing and that is when I did my research and hopped right into it.
What ultimately made you decide this was the right career choice for you?
I enjoy doing admin work along with helping business owners on the path to achieving their goals. The flexibility is also a factor so that I can be home with m family.
What steps did you need to take to become a virtual assistant?
I first wrote down what I could bring to the table. Then I researched what systems I need such as tracking my time, organizing tasks, etc.
How did Meadows Resources help with the entire process of becoming trained in virtual administration?
Lindsey is great. She is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and is always available to teach what she knows and if she doesn’t have the answer, she finds out.
What advice would you give to anyone on the fence about switching their career or simply becoming a virtual assistant out of college?
Make sure that it is something you want to get into. It is not easy but if you set yourself up the correct way, it can be breeze. It will require long hours and hard work but is worth it at the end of the day.
How could someone that is considering switching benefit from Meadows Resources?
Meadows Resources provides training and other tools that are very beneficial as a VA whether you are starting out or have years into your business. They are there to assist and have definitely exceeded my expectations.
